"My head kind of hurts." - Max to Amelia Shepherd.
Max Marshall was the five-year-old patient of Amelia Shepherd and Alex Karev. She appeared in season one and was first introduced in A Second Opinion.
Biography[]
Sometime before being treated by Alex and Amelia, Max was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. When she first came to the hospital as Alex's patient, Alex treated her with a few rounds of chemo, before enlisting Amelia's help. Amelia diagnosed Max with a tumor and insisted if she operated to remove it, Max would be cured.
Max received the surgery and was cured of her cancer by Amelia and Alex. She later appeared in You Can Be Anything, where she attended the Harper Avery Award ceremony when Alex and Amelia both won for her surgery.
